Naturbeads, a Bath-based sustainability startup, has raised Β£8m in a Series A funding round led by EOS Advisory, alongside Progress Tech Transfer, CDP Venture Capital, PI-NB, and Paragon Ventures I. The company is scaling its cellulose microsphere technology, a sustainable alternative to microplastics, to address pollution caused by microplastics found in everyday products like cosmetics, detergents, and paints.
The funding will support the construction of Naturbeadsβ first production plant in Puglia, Italy, significantly increasing capacity to meet growing industrial demand ahead of EU regulations phasing out microplastics by 2027. CEO Giovanna Laudisio emphasised the companyβs unique focus on replacing microplastics within daily products, offering an eco-friendly and scalable solution.
Naturbeads is already collaborating with global manufacturers to integrate its biodegradable microspheres, which break down naturally without compromising performance. The company anticipates announcing its first commercial milestones in 2025, marking a significant step in the fight against microplastic pollution.
