IONATE, a London-based energy tech startup, has raised £13.6m in a Series A round led by AlbionVC, with participation from In-Q-Tel, JGC MIRAI Innovation Fund, Santander InnoEnergy Climate Fund, and Antares Ventures. The company has developed a full-stack power grid solution, integrating its Hybrid Intelligent Transformer with its Aurora software platform to enable real-time control, efficiency improvements, and AI-driven smart grid capabilities.

IONATE’s technology is designed to replace legacy transformers, offering utilities, manufacturers, and data centers a cost-effective way to modernise electrical infrastructure. The company has already partnered with energy giant EDP, with deployments planned in Portugal and Spain, and has gained recognition from NATO’s Defence Innovation Accelerator. The new funding will support further scaling and international expansion.
