Fresh dog food brand Different Dog has raised £10 million in funding from both new and existing investors to expand production and reach more pet owners with its hand-cooked, human-grade meals.
The funding will support the company’s move to a new manufacturing site in Telford and boost capacity to serve its growing subscriber base. Additional investment will go towards brand marketing and team expansion to drive further growth.
Launched in 2017 by husband-and-wife team Charlie and Alex Thurstan, Different Dog was born out of frustration with the lack of healthy, natural options in the pet food market. The couple began by cooking meals for their own dog, Crumble, and turned that experience into a subscription-based business offering freshly prepared, nutritionally balanced meals tailored to each dog’s needs.
The company now feeds over 18,000 dogs each month and employs more than 100 people. Its service allows pet owners to enter information about their dog — including breed, age, dietary requirements and activity level — and receive a bespoke plan of fresh meals made from high-quality, human-grade ingredients.
Amid a growing market for premium pet nutrition, Different Dog is expanding its operations to meet rising demand from owners seeking healthier options for their pets. The investment follows five consecutive years of revenue doubling annually.
