CCI Photonics, a Sci-Tech Daresbury-based medtech startup, has raised Β£100k in pre-seed funding from LYVA Labs to accelerate the development of a point-of-care diagnostic test for urinary tract infections (UTIs). Founded by Carlos Meza, Craig Williams, and Ihtesham Rehman, the companyβs device delivers results in 15 minutes, identifying the bacteria causing the infection and recommending the correct antibiotic, helping to combat antimicrobial resistance.
The company has partnered with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine to validate its technology and recently joined the LYVA Labs incubator programme. The new capital will support regulatory approvals, quality management system enhancements, and the development of a route-to-market strategy.
