Carbogenics, an Edinburgh-based ClimateTech spinout from the University of Edinburgh, has raised nearly £500k in a Seed round led by Green Angel Ventures and Kaplak Ventures. Founded by Ed Craig, the company focuses on transforming hard-to-recycle secondary biomass into CreChar®, a carbon-rich biochar product designed to enhance biogas production and improve environmental sustainability.
The funding will accelerate Carbogenics’ global expansion into Europe and North America, fuel the commercialisation of new products such as FilaChar® for the wastewater industry, and strengthen its UK operations, including its Glenrothes facility. This investment underscores the growing demand for sustainable solutions and biochar’s potential to combat climate change through carbon sequestration and enhanced circularity.
